Extract the Engines from Monterey 282 CR

Hello captains! I own a Monterey 282 CR with 2 Volvo Penta 4.3 engines on board. Unfortunately, one of my transom shields is leaking, and to fix that issue, one of the engines needs to be removed. My mechanics are having a problem with this because the space is very tight, and most parts of the engines are under the deck. Lifting the engines is difficult due to the insufficient space underneath. Has anyone had experience with this? I would be grateful for any thoughts.

I'd bet the only sane way of pulling the engines requires removing the deck above the engines...

On the better designs, there are typically a handful of 'pins' that hold the deck to the hull...remove them and the deck should lift out...

you could also just call Monterey, directly, and ask for their tech support department...

Thank you! I’ve already sent them a message, but I don’t think they’ll be able to help me because it’s a 2005 boat. We’ll see.

The engine has been removed.
I haven’t been to the boatyard yet, so the only thing I know is that the generator was taken out and a special tool to lift the engine was crafted. I’ll provide more details later once I have all the information.
A lot of people are curious about how it was possible to remove the engine from that boat. My usual mechanic always told me, if anything happens to the engines, it’s a big challenge to remove them and you’d probably have to cut the deck.
But if someone really wants to do something, they find a way.

P.S. No reply from the Monterey team. At all.
