90HP 2 Stroke Mercury Cut out when hot

Hello

I had my boat out last week, and the outboard ran fine for around 25 minutes. The engine then cut out, and I couldn’t get it restarted, it was trying to start up but wouldn’t take over.

I have just had a go at starting it on muffs, and it started up first time. I did notice the primer bulb on the fuel line is now leaking and has air inside, which it wasn’t before.

I assume this is something heat-related, could replacing the fuel lines and bulb fix this issue though or is it likely to be an issue within the engine?

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction - engine has a strong telltale stream and had a new impeller fitted before having it out last week.

The fuel pump in the engine has to create a vacuum to suck the fuel out of the tank and up the line to the engine. If it can't develop this vacuum, then it can't feed fuel to the engine. Replacing the fuel line and bulb isn't all that expensive and something you can easily do. I'd do that first and if it doesn't solve the problem you haven't lost anything as it isn't supposed to have leaks and air.

How old is this motor? Post the serial number- all technical info uses that because designs change over time.
