    Cracked Anode

Took the boat out on the weekend and when I got home I noticed the cracked anode. Just wondering if anyone has had this scenario before. I didn't hit anything and the prop is fine. Regards Leachy

Any benefit fitting a SS prop to 75HP 2 stroke

Is the 3 cylinder a newer design over the 4 cylinder. I don't have a lot of experience with this engine or Mercury really all our boats were either Johnson/Evinrude or Yamaha in the later years. This engine dose seem to go through a bit of fuel though, seems almost as much as a 115Hp V4...

Surface Gap vs Electrode spark Plugs

Those engines are so rare here in Australia, most of them were used in salt water so they are all corroded and just dont exist anymore.

Surface Gap vs Electrode spark Plugs

It gets along ok, top speed is about 35 knots. I was taking for a test run after lifting the engine 2". I was probably doing around 24knots in that pic, my usual 4200-4500 rpm cruising speed.

Surface Gap vs Electrode spark Plugs

Hi There, Is there an advantage of one over the other. My motor had surface gap plugs but the Merc deal gave me the conventional electrode type as a replacement. I didnt realize until I got home. Apparently they are equally compatible but mercury fitted the surface gap.

Any benefit fitting a SS prop to 75HP 2 stroke

Hi All, Just wondering if there is any real advantage fitting a Stainless Steel prop to an old 75HP 2 stroke. I was looking at a couple of random posts and a lot suggested that it wasn't really advantageous below about 115HP as the smaller engines dont really have the power to take advantage of...

    Feels like a clutch slipping

I had a similar problem. Coming up onto the plane the prop would slip and then take up, but if I gave it full throttle would slip again. Looking at the prop it wasn't obvious. fitted a different prop and the issue went away.

Mercury 75hp 3 cyl vs 4 cyl, why two designs

That's a lot of leftover parts spare to manufacture both engines for that time period. It would be interesting to know the different running characteristics. I know that Mercury was involved with Yamaha for those earlier periods and as Yamaha typically made three cylinder engines I was wondering...

Mercury 75hp 3 cyl vs 4 cyl, why two designs

Hi All, I have a 75Hp Merc, 4 cylinder 1986 model. Mercury also manufactured a 3 cylinder at the same time I was just wondering why they would do this seem strange. Is one meant to be better than the other? Thanks Leachy

Wont restart after running at higher RPM

So this is the second time, Its a 2 stroke 75 hp Merc 1986 model. After running faultless for 40 miles at 26knots 4200-4400RPM and I stop the motor it wont restart. It will kick and idle until it dies, not long enough to get into gear. It seems like its flooded but cant understand why and if it...

    1984 150 mercury oddity

Are you having us on?? Im pretty certain a two stroke will not run if that is the case due to crankcase ventilation, I doubt it has a hole in the piston, might just be low on compression. Typically you see the smoke more in reverse because you reversing into it not very fast.
