Does anyone know the firing order for a 2003 Johnson 70 hp 4 stroke? I can't find it in the manual. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try calling BRP customer service at 1-262-884-5993. Post back what they say. I'm curious too.

Well, it is 1, 3, 4, 2, but that info is almost pointless.
The ignition is a waste spark system. The plugs fire in pairs, #1 and #4 fire at the same time, and #2 and #3 fire at the same time.
Look very closely at the high voltage wires from the coils to the plugs. The cyl number is written on the wire.

I have called them many times this past week. First time on hold for 45min, over an hour the 2nd and so on. There is only 3 techs for the whole North America. I spoke to one and she told me the cylinder order for a V6, I told her the model again and she told me the cylinders are 1,2,3,4 from top to bottom. That sounded odd, I questioned her to confirm and she offered to send me the diagram/manual via email. I did not receive it (checked spam) so I called again, and got her again. She informed me she does not send emails until 4pm-ish. That was 2 days ago and still nothing.

They want to sell me a new E-Tech motor but realistically their customer service scares me.

Thanks for the thought though!

I am looking for the order of the cylinders from top to bottom. I have the wire numbers. I was told by Evinrude tech they are 1,2,3,4 from top to bottom but doesn't quite seem right as I thought the two coil boxes the wires come out of are next to the cylinders the fire but that might have been another motor I worked on. The firing order you gave would make sense as 1 & 4 are on the ends and 2 & 3 are in the middle and that seems balanced to me. I just want to be sure before I blow a piston over into the neighbor's yard.

Thank you for your response!

What the heck do you want?
The cylinders are numbered 1,2,3,4 from top to bottom.
The firing order is 1,3,4,2.
The wires are connected to the plugs by observing the numbers printed on the wires.

As far as I can see, your question was answered.

That is what the "heck" I was looking for. I wasn't looking for an agro response from some dicklebee.
F*ck you very much, have a great day!
ps- lay off the coffee, breathe deep and lighten up.

Thanks for the info about BRP. I won't refer anybody to them again. That really sucks as you would think a company like that would have a good customer service dept. It wasn't that way in the old OMC days. I know that first hand.
