Hi all, I'll try it with a new thread.
I'm still having issues with the Power Trim of my 85TXLR77S Johnson Outboard.
Here is what I did:
I'm still having issues with the Power Trim of my 85TXLR77S Johnson Outboard.
Here is what I did:
- I fixed the solenoid which is now doing what it is supposed to do
- the battery is fully charged
- I took out the relief valve and fitted it with a new seal (hopefully in the right place - see question further down
- If been trying to get power trim fluid in the unit for a few days now... always putting some in, then lifting and dropping the outboard manually while pressing the up/down buttons.... then waiting a few minutes and repeating the whole procedure
- When I press up or down button, the tilt/trim-motor makes a sound
- When I press the down button and give the whole outboard a push, the tilt cylinder/rod moves slowly downwards
- When it "hits" the two trim cylinders/rods, it stops
- The two trim cylinders/rods retract, when I press the down button and push the whole outboard downwards
- The two trim cylinders/rods come back out, when I press the up button and lift the whole outboard
- even if I close the relief valve (hopefully completely, but it feels like it) and the refill-screw on the power trim unit, I am able to manually move the outboard up and down... does this tell me, that there is now pressure in the system?
- Is the seal in the right position (it took the one right where the screw begins off already) on the relief valve and is it big enough (again because of lack of pressure in the system) - or where does the seal go?
- how much fluid goes into the cylinders? I lost quite some fluid when taking out the relief valve
