Prop play

Should I have side to side (red arrows) or up and down ( blue arrows) play?
I’m moving it like I would test a wheel bearing on a car.
It has a little bit of play. Roughly 1-2mm maybe - its just enough to feel it

There will be some play. Push the prop forward into the tapered roller bearing & play will be less.

thank you , this is my first boat and motor and replaced the prop after a little bump on a rock and I’m now touching and overthink everything and I’m not sure how any of its suppose to go.
