Stern drive trim cylinder trailering clips

I was thinking of getting one of those outboard style transom saver rods, but I came across these style for the actuators.

What do you all think of these? Any good? Waste of money? This is my 1st I/O to own and I want to protect my new transom.

i don't think they are worth the money...and they won't do anything to protect the transom....

If this is your first, then make sure you put the drive down every time you disconnect the trailer....the bellows will last a lot longer...

Yes Sir! I park her in the garage, lower the tongue as far as it will go and let the drive down until about an inch off floor and put a 1x4 under the skeg.
So all these "clips" do is allow you to relieve pressure off the actuators while trailering?
Do I need a short bar from the foot to the bottom of the trailer like an outboard?

I plan on taking her from Ga. to Nc. once a year. About an 8hr drive.
 
Those clip on the extended trim ram rod while drive is up.

trailer button all the wat up, clip them on and trim down til sound change.

Takes pressure off of internal valving in trim pump
 
Also saves things if you blow a hyd line.
But no, they don't take any force off the transom but an I/O doesn't have the leverage of an outboard bouncing around either.
 
Okay so, not a bad idea to take the pressure off the pump during a long tow. They are cheap enough.
