i need to rebuild my carb but i cant get a tohatsu kit/3v1-87122-0 locally, im in Canada and the local shop said the Texas warehouse is out of stock.
boats.net has a genuine tohatsu carb kit but it wont let me check out and the page freezes, i think because im in canada theres an issue.
amazon.ca has aftermarket kits but the comment section has people saying dont waste your money on them.
anyone having luck with these amazon ones???
i also wanted to get the o-ring/3v1-2012-0
2 gaskets/3v1-02011-0
also dropped a carb bolt in the river/916113-0695
its a 2012 mfs 9.8a3 that im buying off a guy at the marina for my kid, basically i said i would throw the kit in it and if it ran good id buy it but not being able to get some basic parts for it is turning me off on this deal, are these motors any good?

I got a new carb off Amazon about $80 works great!

Had it running good last year, then he left the gas tank connected in the hot sun with vent closed and gas would pour out the bowl gasket. Im not going to toss the tohatsu carb, ill rebuild it but its just a matter of getting this motor running asap. My son got a job at the marina and needs it now lol

this carb has the accelerator pump on it where the old one didnt. bolted up just fine, fired right up. had to adjust the idle screw and the accelerator pump screw a little. no complaints so far

i thought it just meant it was the EU version of the carb
which in your opinion is the better carb
the merc, tohatsu or yamaha carb
i think i read somewhere here that yamaha could be used also?

under load it feels like its not getting enough gas, from what ive read there isnt any adjustment screws on these carbs. was out trying full throttle and it was bogging down then after about 15 minutes it sort of cleared but then it feels like 3/4 throttle. somethings not quite right it wont get a little 10ft skiff up on plane and idle isnt quite right either
starting to think the machining isnt up to snuff or some left over debris is in there somewhere

found a carb rebuild kit with the proper float bowl gasket, all the ones on amazon that i saw had a round hole where the fuel enters but the tohatsu gaskets have that indent for the screw hole and not a bad price
ordered a 6 liter ultrasonic cleaner and am going to try pinesol as the solution

dont buy the carb kit from these clowns, they sent the crappy amazon ones with a the different float and wrong shaped gasket

they wound up giving me a refund and i ordered the one from ebay that FlyingScott linked to earlier in the thread. hopefully its not another bait and switch situation

used the ultrasonic cleaner with pinesol on the old carb and worked amazingly well
the question i have now is the tell tale is peeing just fine but i have water coming out the leg in 2 spots, i uploaded a short to show where exactly

couldnt get that skiff to get up on plane, the motor didnt have enough power.
its got a weird hull shape
picked up a 10 foot Livingston and she just popped right onto plane and couldnt be happier with this motor now
think im going to put some trim tabs on it though

the carb kit flyingscott recommended getting from fleabay came in and looks good
borrowed a 36 inch to 50 inch tiller extension and 36 is more than enough, going to look for one that goes from 18 to 36
ordered some 6x8 Bennet trim tabs, garmin fishfinder and the amazon 56"to 60" bimini top, they should all be here tomorrow
very curious to see what the trim tabs do before i order the tiller extension handle
had a little fun in the fraser river today, almost hit a sturgeon but didnt have my camera on when it jumped in front of me
2.5 minute video

i have that cheap amazon carb with the accelerator pump, i had the feeling that it wasnt supplying enough gas and maybe just needs different jets in it.
i found this carb and prop to make the 9.8hp perform like a 15hp motor
does anyone know the jet sizes in this carb?
