    Foord 302 lower rebuild

I haven't gotten my outdrive back on yet but started puttering around with the second lower that lost forward gear, like the other lower (before and after my rebuild) and I had found that the shift cable had broken just above the swivel housing. It looks like it was spliced there by the previous...

    1976 Ford 302 Lower Re-build

My fuel filter came in, so I took the old one out and made an adjustable bracket for the new filter out of the old bracket, as it is a tight fit and I wanted a little wiggle room. I also figured out my tilt problem. My wiring was just fine, but I forgot that I had put in a 50-amp in-line fuse...

    1976 Ford 302 Tilt problems

I was getting my boat ready to take out to complete my sea trials and the outdrive wouldn't tilt up. This has been an intermittent problem recently, so I thought it was a short grounding it out. Deciding to be a big boy and work it out myself, I did some diagnosis. Droid said to jump across the...

    Ask Grok...

I didn't get out this weekend, as I have a bit of a cold, but I did ask Grok, Elon Musk's AI tool, about some questions I had about my Ford 302's performance standards. The more specific I got, the more exact the answers were with all of my up-graded components. I had some questions about If I...

1976 Ford 302 carburator problems (was lower re-build)

My lower rebuild went well, and I installed it back on my boat and looks like it is functioning, but the engine is running terribly - it won't idle. I can just get it down to about 2000 rpm and it start to miss and it dies at about 1500 rpm. In taking off the spark arrestor, I see gas squirting...

    1976 lower re-build. (Was 302 pops...)

Sorry to keep you in suspense, but I have been waiting for replacement parts in order to understand how to get this locknut off of the drive shaft so that I can get to the forward shift mechanism in back. I first ordered a Sierra locknut, but it didn't look like what I was seeing in my unit, so...

302 Pops and trys to die at top end ( was "newly overhauled 302 won't start".)

Well, I put in a new fuel pump. fuel filter and had changed the anti-siphon valve to an oversized one, new fuel line and blew out the fuel feed into the tank, all 3/8", including the fittings, took it to the ocean, and it did the same thing. After full throttle applied, it took several minutes...

    Newly overhauled 1976 Ford 302 won't start

No joy yet. I tried about 20 times at 20 seconds each and no go. I had plenty of batteries throughout, which is the good news. Sometimes I tried twisting the distributer 10 degrees one way and 10 degrees the other and it always sounded best right in the middle of where I found the 10 degree...

Blew another seloniod on 1976 Ford 302

I did some exploratory and found that the black 8 gauge wire attached to the starter side of the selonoid is the negative ground to the gauges, and the red 8 gauge wire on the battery side powers up the key switch (B) and the gauges. Still not sure where the wire from the (S) terminal goes...

    1976 Ford 302 selonoid problems

I have a newly overhauled 1976 ford 302 cid marine in a 1977 crusers 206. The engine is very slow cranking and stops cranking after anout 15 seconds on a full charge of 14.2 volts. It stops cranking at 12.8 volts. I have burnt out four starter selonoids, so it is a wring problem is right around...
