1992 Johnson VRO 60 HP not firing.

Model J60TLENE on a RedFin 16 Center Console.
I have re-wired the console. There are several wires left over that seem to go nowhere since I have
run many boat accessories to the battery directly. The ignition switch is working properly. The engine status horn is working
when ignition switch is turned on. The engine is turning over but not firing. New plugs, new fuel pump. The engine was
starting and running well prior to starting the re-wiring. The only wire that seems to matter is a purple wire at the ignition switch.
Are there possibly any wires in the harness coming from the engine that I may need to be connected somewhere in the dash
panel that would prevent spark generation. Harness ground is being used. The ever popular RED wire in the harness is not showing
any voltage when ignition is turned on. The main engine fuse is good. I just feel that there is a wire in the harness that
needs to be put in the loop somewhere. I appreciate any help on this.
THANX Guys.

Since we can't see your boat, help us out.
*Do you have a side mount control with the key switch located in it?
*Do you have a binnacle control with the key switch located on it?
*Or choice #3, do you have a separately mounted key switch in the dash somewhere? I ask because for example a side mount control with key in it would be pretty much isolated from a wiring mistake & the separate key switch installation could most likely get miscombobulated into a mistake.

Regardless of style which you have, the engine operation is totally independent of dash function. Key switch on will provide power to the instruments but you can rip the dash & wiring out & it should still start & run.

You have the warning horn beep & engine crank, so the one & only fuse on the engine (20 amp) is good.

Black with yellow tracer is your kill circuit. In theory, that engine should run with the big red plug disconnected. So you need to verify the black/yellow is not connected to ground somehow. That is what shuts the ign off. Safety lanyard wire screw up?

All this is assuming the 2 following:
*Your primer solenoid is squirting fuel.
*You have checked for & verified you have no spark.
It is possible you have a failed electrical component that coincidentally failed during your tinkering but 1st make sure that black/yellow wire in not connecting to ground. Disconnect it from the key switch.

What a great help this was..The Black/White wire was grounding. disconnected it and check some other things.
Engine started and seems to have some life left in it. Can't wait to put the boat in the water next week.
NOW...The wire in question (Blk/WHT) and an Off White wire run thru a harness from the engine,
but end of harness at center console they are not connected to anything nor can I see where they might have been connected.
They run thru the harness from the engine along with a purple wire that goes to the Engine condition horn and then feeds power
to the console thru the ignition switch. I plan to dead-end the 2 wires in question and move on.
Emergency disconnect lanyard works as it should. Neutral safety switch works as it should.
I did replace neutral switch with a momentary switch in the console because the original broke and is not longer available.
Any suggestions on the BLK/WHT and WHT wires that are just hanging there in the harness?
GREAT HELP Guys
THANX
