    Preferred Gas oil max ratio

    Is it best to mix per factory ratio as printed on gas can ? I.e. 1 qt oil per 6 gal gas or 1/2 pt. Per gal of gas ?

    1957 Evinrude Fastwin 18 hp

    Motors been sitting for 30 years new coils points plugs etc,, It starts and runs but whenever I start it in start position & turn throttle handle in any direction it stalls why ? However if I start it in fast it’ll run anywhere in the fast position Does it need to go on water and run for awhile ?
